Ackley, J. Gerald  
KANE - J. Gerald Ackley, 95, of 6996 Route 6, passed away Sunday (June 19, 2016) at his residence. Born Nov. 22, 1920, in Kane, he was a son of the late James and Zula Payne Ackley. He was married to the former Marian Dougherty, who preceded him in death in 1996. Mr. Ackley had worked as an oil field technician for Pennzoil and later for other local oil producers. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army with the 65th Division 261st Infantry, attaining the rank of sergeant. He was a member of VFW Lodge #1132 and American Legion Post #250, where he was past post commander. He was one of the oldest living members of Kane Elks #329 and belonged to Mountain Grange #1307. Surviving are three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Tracey of Claremont, Calif., Charlotte Ackley of Fredericksburg, Va., and Ruth Ackley of Kane. Several nieces and nephews also survive, including nephew Dennis Ackley of Kane. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lyle Ackley, Dean Ackley and Gene Ackley. Friends and family may attend a graveside service at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Callistus Cemetery, where burial will follow. The Cummings Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements. Borello, Verna  
JOHNSONBURG - Verna Marie Borello, 85, Johnsonburg, passed away Tuesday (June 21, 2016) at her residence. She was born March 14, 1931, in Ridgway, daughter of the late Raymond McKinley and Thelma Gardner McClintick. She married Salvatore "Sam" Borello on May 6, 1978; he preceded her in death. Verna was a graduate of Johnsonburg High School. She worked for Stackpole Carbon in the past. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church of Johnsonburg, Johnsonburg American Legion & the V.F.W. In the past, she had loved to bowl. Verna has lived all her life in Johnsonburg. Verna is survived by an adopted daughter, Sue (Richard) Thorne of State College, a sister Naomi Ernst of Tonawanda, N.Y., and numerous nieces and nephews, including Kenneth Mendat, Ruth Ann Mendat, Roxann Lester, Timothy McClintick, Rosellen Passell, and Joseph Mazzotto. Verna was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ione Mendat Stenta and her twin sister Vera McClintick, and one brother Blair McClintick. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Ubel Funeral Home in Johnsonburg, and again on Saturday at the funeral home from noon until 1 p.m., at which point a funeral service will take place 1 p.m. with the Rev. Cranmer, Muriel  
Muriel J. Cranmer, 81, of Felton, Del., formerly of Bradford, passed away Tuesday (June 21, 2016) in Delaware. Born May 23, 1935, she was a daughter of Eleanor (Culbertson) Kloss and Arthur Elrod. She was a member of Woodside United Methodist Church in Woodside, Del. She is survived by a daughter, Linda (Chip) Cobb of Felton; two sons, James (Holley) Cranmer of Round Rock, Texas, and Randall (Debra) Cranmer of Great Valley, N.Y.; one stepdaughter, Sandra Watson of Great Valley, N.Y.; two stepsons, Randy (Karen) Krouse of Camden, Del., and William (Martie) Krouse of Milford, Del.; two brothers, Edward (Darlene) Kloss and Richard (Beverly) Kloss, all of Bradford; three sisters, Joyce Hotelling, Anne (Steven) Campogiani, all of Bradford, and Kaye Kloss of Wichita, Kan.; a sister-in-law, Sharon Kloss of Bradford; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, John and Douglas Cranmer; her loving partner of 35 years, Randlette Krouse; and one brother, David Kloss. Private graveside services will be held in Willow Dale Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday in the West Branch United Methodist Church with the Rev. Matt Blake, pastor, officiating. A memorial service will be held in Woodside at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc. DeStevens, Betty  
MILTON - Betty L. DeStevens, 91, formerly of Coudersport, passed away on Sunday (June 19, 2016) at the Milton Nursing and Rehab Center. Born in Eulalia Township, Potter County, on March 26, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Mildred (Cheverton) Holcomb. She was married to Sylvester DeStevens for 41 years until his death in 1993. Betty was a 1944 graduate of Coudersport High School. She had worked for the Glove factory and Sylvania Tube factory both in Galeton, the Brownhill Kramer Silk Mill all in her earlier years. Later she worked for Oak Knoll Sanatorium and the Northside Sanatorium both in California, and the Potter County Memorial Hospital. She also worked with her husband in the Red and White Grocery Store. She was a member of St. Eulalia Catholic Church in Coudersport, St. Francis Catholic Church in Bradford, Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lewisburg and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milton. She enjoyed her faith and her family and loved to bake. Betty is survived by a daughter, Angela (Don) Peterman of Milton; two grandsons, Andrew and Nathan; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Duane Neefe in Pennsylvania; and two sisters, Hazel Juell of Arcata, Calif., and Mary Gage in New York. She was preceded in death by a brother, Roland Neefe; and a sister, Diana Mauregard. Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday in St. Elizabeth's Cemetery, Smethport. JOHNSONBURG - Shirley C. Flacinski, 86, of 103 Clarion Road, Johnsonburg, died early Monday morning (June 20, 2016) at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh after a brief illness. She was born on July 22, 1929, in Ridgway, a daughter of Fred and Alfercata Werner Nyquist. On Oct. 1, 1949, in St. Leo Magnus Church, Ridgway, she married Edward R. "Edge" Flacinski, who died on July 31, 2012. Mrs. Flacinski is survived by two sons, Mark (Caroline) Flacinski of St. Marys, and Richard (Shelli) Flacinski of Hopewell Junction, N.Y.; two daughters, Jean (Robert) Dixon of St. Marys, and Beth (Richard) Wendel of McKees Rocks; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Barbara Kosko of Worthington, and Carol Nyquist of Hilton Head, N.C. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg. Isenberg, Katheryn  
Katheryn E. Isenberg, 73, of 1190 Parkside Drive, Limestone, N.Y., passed away Thursday (June 23, 2016) surrounded by her loving family, at her residence. Katheryn was born in Indiana, Pa., on Nov. 1, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Charlotte Cribbs Thompson. She was a 1957 graduate of Indiana High School. On July 31, 1958, in Indiana, she married Dale I. Isenberg ,who survives. She was a member of Limestone United Methodist Church, Limestone, and the Eastern Star in Limestone. Katheryn was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting, knitting and sewing. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Surviving in addition to her husband Dale of 57 years, are two daughters, Debra (Edward) Fidurko of Limestone, and Susan Isenberg of Bradford; four grandchildren, Dale (Jill) Fidurko, Zachary Fidurko, Rennie Florentine IV, and Hannah E. Florentine; one sister, Agnes I. Frazier in Michigan, one brother, Charles Lee Thompson in Michigan and longtime family friend Pattie Maben of Limestone. She was preceded in death by her parents, one granddaughter Cora Florentine, two brothers John Robert Thompson and William Dale Thompson. Family will be receiving friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., 372 East Main St., where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday with the Rev. Robert Beard, pastor of the Limestone United Methodist Church, officiating. Committal services and burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery in Limestone.
