Hadfield, Jean  
KANE - Jean Hadfield, 75, of 302 Birch St., Kane, died Sunday evening (May 1, 2016) at her home. Born April 3, 1941, in Kane, she was the daughter of Lyle A. and Myrtle V. Norman Spence. She had been married to Leon Peters, then to Paul Hadfield, both whom preceded her in death. Jean was a member of Tabor Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, both in Kane. Surviving are three daughters, Lisa Fisher, Lori Mazzulla and Deb Hayduk, all of Kane; two sons, Skip Peters and Mick Peters, both of Kane; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her pet dog, "Buddy." She was preceded in death, besides her husbands and parents, by brothers, William and Robert Spence; a sister, Joyce Bundy; and a son, Dean Peters. Friends may call at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home Inc. in Kane on Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m., at which time a service will be held there with the Rev. David Pflieger, chaplain of The Lutheran Home at Kane, officiating. Interment will follow in Lebanon Cemetery, Kanesholm. Hoy, Helen  
ST. MARYS - Helen H. Hoy, 93, of 1149 Johnsonburg Road, St. Marys, died on Tuesday (April 26, 2016) at Pinecrest Manor surrounded by her family following a brief illness. She was born on Dec. 27, 1922, in Johnsonburg, a daughter of the late Alfred and Catherine Sweeney Hinchliffe. On Nov. 14, 1942, in Bryan, Texas, she married David D. Hoy, who survives. Mrs. Hoy was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Johnsonburg High School, class of 1940. She was a member of the St. Marys Church and was a member of the Rosary Altar Society. She was a longtime volunteer for the Catholic school cafeteria and for Meals on Wheels. She also volunteered at the hospital and was a member of the Red Hat Society. In addition to her husband of more than 73 years, David D. Hoy, she is survived by a daughter, Betsy (John) Healy of St. Marys, a son Jeffrey (Tracy) Hoy of New Wilmington, and by four grandchildren, Sean (Bridget) Healy of Pittsburgh, Diana (Brian) Caiazza of New Wilmington, David Hoy of Grove City and Katherine (Steve Marquart) of Hopewell Junction, N.Y. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Meghan, Tully, Brian and Julian and by two special nieces, Joyce (Bob) Arnold and Kathy (Jim) Herzing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Martin Hinchliffe and Thomas Hinchliffe and by three sisters, Shirley Tuttle, Alice McKnight and June Smith. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Marys Church, Church Street, St. Marys, with the Rev. Alfred Patterson, OSB, officiating. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Elk County Humane Society, St. Marys Church, Holy Rosary Church or to a charity of choice.
