Petzold, Marjorie  
PORT ALLEGANY - Marjorie Jean Petzold, 79, of Hillside Avenue, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on Feb. 20, 2015 in Dana Point, Calif., while vacationing with her family and with her husband by her side. Born Jan. 24, 1936 in Newmansville, she was a daughter of Russell and Dorothy Daum. On Sept. 13, 1958 in Oil City, she married James R. Petzold, who survives. They moved to Port Allegany in 1959 and were married 56 years. Marjorie was a graduate of Oil City High School, Class of 1953, and of Clarion University, Class of 1957, with a bachelor's of science degree in elementary education. She taught 1st grade in Warren for a year and a half and later worked individually with several special needs students. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Port Allegany; past secretary and member of the United Methodist Women and Anna-Oral Circle; secretary and member of the Friends of the S.W. Smith Library and secretary; member of the Friends bridge and 500 clubs series; member of several bridge clubs and Port Allegany Garden Club; and she volunteered with Meals on Wheels and Port Allegany Senior Center. Her interests were cross-stitching, flowers, reading, puzzles, playing games, traveling and visiting her children. Surviving in addition to her husband, James, are three sons, Jeffrey (Loreline) Petzold, Mark (Karen) Petzold and David (Diane) Petzold; two daughters, Pamela Petzold and Lynn Petzold; and three grandchildren, Dustin, Andreas and Louis Petzold. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Russell; her stepfather, Wilbur Dahle; and a brother, Rev. Roger Daum. Marjorie's final loving wish was to donate her body to medical research upon death. She was a donor to the Willed Body Program at University of Irvine Medical Center, Irvine, Calif. A memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church, Port Allegany, at a later date to be announced. Memorials can be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Local funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.

Porter, Maxine  
RIXFORD - Maxine M. Porter, 75, of Rixford, passed away on Friday (Feb. 27, 2015) at her residence following a long illness. Born Aug. 24, 1939, in Allegany, N.Y., she was a daughter of John and Catherine Hamilton Morris. On March 28, 1959, in the Methodist Church in Smethport, she married Edgar C. Porter, who survives. Maxine had attended Shinglehouse schools and had resided in Rixford since 1972. She had been employed at Viko Furniture in Eldred for 10 years and later for Sena-Kean Manor for eight years. Prior to her retirement, Maxine drove the ATA bus in McKean County. She was a member of the Rixford Evangelical Church, a member of and past president and secretary of the Otto Township Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, member and past secretary of the Tri-County Fire Fighters Ladies Auxiliary, member and past secretary for 38 years of the Tri-County Fire Fighters Association and most recently the director of the Tri-County Fire School. Maxine was an outstanding bowler and enjoyed doing crafts and gardening. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are three sons, Roger Porter and Scott Porter, both of Rixford, and Kenny (Eileen) Porter of Huston, Texas; four grandchildren, Elijah and Kennedy Porter, Ashley Parker and Ashley (Michael) Hasty; two great-granddaughters, Amelia and Ellyana Hasty; two brothers, Eugene (Arlene) Morris of Fayetteville, N.C., and John (Shirley) Morris of Raleigh, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. Maxine was preceded in death by a son, David Porter; and a stepfather, Stanton Jones. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Frame Funeral Home, Eldred. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday (not 11 a.m. as previously published) at the Rixford Evangelical Church with the Rev. Norman Cox, pastor, and the Rev. Frank Hill, co-officiating. Burial will follow in the Rosehill Cemetery in Smethport. Memorials may be made to the Otto Township Fire Department; or a charity of the donor's choice. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Frame Funeral Home, Eldred. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Rixford Evangelical Church.
