Barbara McCord

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - Barbara Hope Parmeter McCord died Monday (Nov. 4, 2013) at home after an extended illness.
Born March 31, 1931, she was a daughter of the late W.E. and Viola Mae Strait Parmeter. In June 1951, in the Eldred (Pa.) Methodist Church, she married Robert McCord.
Barbara was a 1949 graduate of Otto High School in Duke Center, Pa. After graduation, she worked at the Olean (N.Y.) Times Herald. As her husband was in the U.S. Air Force, they traveled around the world, living in Minnesota, Alaska, Las Vegas, Okinawa, Taiwan, Norfolk, Va., and Maine. Barbara worked at many of the air bases.
They retired to Palm Beach Gardens in the late 1970s. Barbara attended Tropical Sands Christian Church in Palm Beach Gardens for many years.
Barbara is survived by several nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn (Douglas) Warner and Marcia Karl, both of Allegany, N.Y.; and many friends.
She was predeceased by her husband in 1988; parents; sisters, Irma Dempsey, Florence Roberts and Dorothy Stickman; and a brother, Howard Parmeter.
Inurnment will be with Bob in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
