Carolyn Shaffner

CUBA, N.Y. - Carolyn L. "Connie" Shaffner, 90, of 2061 Wolf Creek Road, Portville, and formerly of Bradford, Pa., passed away Sunday (May 12, 2013) at Olean General Hospital after a short illness.
Born on March 7, 1923, in Bradford, she was a daughter of Carl A. and Tina Cumbow Burgland. On June 29, 1945, in Bradford, she married Roy L. Shaffner Jr., who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Shaffner was a graduate of Bradford Area High School.
In the 1950s, Connie began working for Bell Telephone and later went to work as a receptionist at Bradford Regional Hospital. She worked as a sales associate for JC Penney, Kmart Corp. and then retired at the age of 86 from E-Z TV and Appliances in Bradford, where she had been office manager for 20 years.
She was a member of Bradford's Veterans Club and the Moose Club of Bradford. She enjoyed dancing with her husband, knitting, and being a loving homemaker who took great pride in her home.
Surviving are a son, Charles W. (Brenda) Shaffner of Portville; two daughters, Shirley (James) Schnepp of Bradford and Bonnie Curcio in Florida; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Alice Douglas of Bradford; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation or funeral services. Private family graveside services will be held in McKean Memorial Park, Bradford, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
