David Krieg

David "Sam" Krieg, 77, died on Tuesday (Oct. 22, 2013) after a two and a half year battle with melanoma cancer.
Son of John and Monica Krieg, he was born June 10, 1936, in Bradford.
Sam was the president of his 1954 class at St. Bernard High School. He lived in the Hudson Valley and taught as a full professor in the biology department at the State University of New York at New Paltz for 35 years. He graduated with a Ph.D. from St. Bonaventure University in Allegany, N.Y.
Sam married Julia Matthews in 1958. He was the proud father of Stacey, Todd and Julia, and he was grandfather to Katherine, Gretchen and Sam Krieg, Wyler and Emily Gins and Jack and Sam Serrano.
He restored and resided in a 1760 historical stone home in High Falls, N.Y., summered in Kennebunkport, Maine and wintered in Boca Grande, Fla., for many years.
Sam was an avid skier, sailor, golfer and fly fisherman. He collected and lectured on historical canes and walking sticks. He owned and operated an art gallery and antique shop, both in New York and in Maine.
He was beloved by all and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
