Edward G. Clancy, 73, of 2 Wagner Ave., Bradford, passed away Thursday (Feb. 6, 2014) surrounded by his loving family at his residence.
Born May 8, 1940, in Emporium, he was a son of the late Gerald and Lila Hart Clancy. On Oct. 26, 1968, at Port Allegany, he married Sandra L. Newton Clancy, who survives him.
He was a 1958 graduate of Moravia High School in Moravia, N.Y., and received his nursing degree from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Olean, N.Y.
Mr. Clancy enlisted in the U.S. Army
on Feb. 27, 1959, and was honorably discharged on Jan. 26, 1962.
He was a member of the Duke Center United Methodist Church and was very active in the Boy Scouts of America in Rixford and Duke Center.
Mr. Clancy was employed as a charge nurse at the Bradford Nursing Pavilion, Guy & Mary Felt Manor in Emporium and prior to his retirement at Lakeview Senior Care Center in Smethport.
Surviving, in addition to his wife Sandra of 45 years, are three sons, Steve Anderson of Dacula, Ga., Shawn Clancy of Duke Center and Eric Clancy of Bradford; three sisters, Barbara Clancy of Florida, Anna Glover of Costello and Mary Jane Baker of Austin; three brothers, William Clancy of Kill Buck, N.Y., Richard Clancy of Truman and Robert Clancy of Austin; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Scott Allen Clancy; and one sister, Pat Hamilton.
Family will be receiving friends at the Church of Christ on Derrick Road on Monday from 11 a.m. to noon, at which time funeral and committal services will be held with the Rev. Rick Price, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park, Lafayette. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.
