Elizabeth "Betty" R. Bundy Leonard, 94, of 360 Bolivar Drive, Bradford, passed away Friday (Jan. 4, 2013) at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Born on Oct. 7, 1918, in Brockwayville (Brockway), she was a daughter of the late Warren R. Bundy and Ellen E. Beacher Bundy Swavey. On June 25, 1939, in the Grace Methodist Church in Meadville, she married Clarence R. Leonard, who survives.
She attended Jefferson Beatty School in Warren as well as the Warren Conservatory of Music. She was formerly employed at the Shriner's Hospital in Erie, Idea Printing in Bradford and worked as a painter at Airco Speer Co. from 1951 to 1976.
Mrs. Leonard was a member of the First Free Methodist Church of Bradford, a founding member of the Tuna Valley Free Methodist Church, the pianist, Sunday school teacher, treasurer and worked with the C.Y.C Group.
Surviving, in addition to her husband Clarence of 73 years, are three daughters, Vonda Leonard of Ben Salem, Elizabeth Sharon Ann (Leonard) Case of Bradford and Joycelyn Leonard-Staton of Westerville, Ohio; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Joseph John Swavey; three sisters, Mila Bundy-Danielson, Lucy Burton-Anderson and Janet Bundy Edmingston Kingsley; and one brother, Merton R. Bundy.
Family will be receiving friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., East Main Street, and again from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday in the First Free Methodist Church, where funeral services will follow with the Rev. Robert Brest, pastor, officiating. Committal services and burial will be in McKean Memorial Park, Lafayette.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the First Free Methodist Church; or the Lions Club.
