PALMYRA - George Paul Sapko, 91, of Palmyra, passed away peacefully on Monday (Jan. 13, 2014) at Broad Mountain Nursing and Rehabilitation, Frackville.
He was born Saturday, Oct. 21, 1922, in Custer City to the late Andrew and Anna Jesenko Sapko. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Dorothy Johnson Sapko.
George was a dedicated employee of Case Cutlery, where he retired as the South Bradford plant superintendent after many years of service. He was a faithful member of The Church of the Holy Spirit in Palmyra and was a former member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Parish in Bradford. He was an avid sportsman, enjoying both hunting and fishing. Most importantly he was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by a daughter, Betsy (Daniel) Walter of Palmyra; a son, David (Kathleen) Sapko of Chicago; four grandchildren, Paula Walter, Lisa Judd, Erin Edris and Jeffrey Sapko; four great-grandchildren, Katie Sapko, and Melanie, Diana and Alice Edris; a sister, Helen Sapko; and a brother, Andrew Sapko Jr.
In addition to his wife he was predeceased by a daughter, Donna Judd; a grandson, Christopher Judd; and 11 siblings.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078.
