Helen O. (Phetterplace) Tingue(1922-2012)

Helen O. Tingue, 90, of 415 Minard Run, formerly of 234 Lang Maid Lane, finished her earthly journey Friday (Oct. 26, 2012) with her daughter releasing her hand into the hand of Jesus, her Lord and Savior, along with her devoted son-in-law and loyal Shih Tzu "Precious" constantly at her side.
Born July 8, 1922, in Franklinville, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late John D. and Lola Gould Phetterplace. On April 25, 1943, at Grenier Field Air Force Base in Manchester, N.H., she married Harold J. Tingue Jr., who died on Oct. 29, 2006.
Mrs. Tingue was a 1939 graduate of Bradford High School. She had worked at Emery Hardware Co., Forest Oil, and retired after 22 years of service from Northwest Savings Bank.
She was especially known for her beautiful flower and rose gardens at 234 Lang Maid Lane, where she resided for 55 years. She was a member and Past Nobel Grand Queen of the Esther Rebecca Lodge and a member of Sigma Alpha Sorority.
For many years, she attended the First United Methodist Church and was a member of the Christian Woman's Club. In 2007, she moved to reside with her daughter and son-in-law, and started attending the Evans Memorial United Methodist Church.
Surviving is a daughter, Beth E. (Bruce) Monti of Bradford; a daughter-in-law, Damas McCreery from California; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth Tingue Meyers, Andrew J. (Christine) Pingie, Scott A. (Kitzie) Pingie, Michael Monti, Melissa Monti (Stafford) Young, Lynn Monti (Richard) Malling and Patrick (Heather DeGolier) Monti; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and several very loved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Frederick Scott Tingue, who died as a result of an automobile accident in 1975, and an infant, Thomas Allen Tingue; one sister, Ruth Burt; and two brothers, William and Edward Phetterplace.
Family will be receiving friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., East Main Street, and again from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Evans Memorial United Methodist Church, where funeral and committal services will be held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Larry Corner, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park, Lafayette.
