James Barlet

ELDRED - James T. Barlet, 78, of Burris Road, passed away Monday (May 5, 2014) at Cole Memorial Hospital in Coudersport following a brief illness.
Born May 30, 1935, in Warren, he was a son of Jesse Tod and Dorothy Casses Barlet. On Sept. 7, 1991, in St. Andrew's Methodist Church in Westons Mills, N.Y., he married Martha L. Brudage, who survives. 
James was a graduate of Eldred High School. He had resided on Burris Road since 1970.
Mr. Barlet had served with the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1957 in Tripoli. He was employed by Quaker State Refinery for 10 years and later owned and operated the Eldred Tastee Freeze, the Video Gallery in Smethport and also Portville Storage.
James loved collecting and working on antique cars. He was also a great animal advocate and has rescued several dogs, most recently his dog, Abby.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are one daughter, Aimee Barlet of Trinity, Fla.; a grandson, Garrett Horta; two stepsons, Timothy (Cathy) Hoffmier of Dillsburg and Mark (Marie) Hoffmier of Twin Falls, Idaho; three stepdaughters, Kathy (Gary) Stone of Underwood, Ind., Kelly (Terry) Madison of Wysox and Kami (Ken) Fisher of Savannah, Ga.; several other stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; a sister, Diane (Pete) Haskins of Turtlepoint; and a nephew, Shane Haskins of Port Allegany.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Frame Funeral Home in Eldred, where funeral services will be held at noon Friday with the Rev. Jay Tennies officiating.   
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to an SPCA of the donor's choice.
