PORT ALLEGANY - Jane A. Romanio, 84, of Hamburg, N.Y., formerly of Port Allegany and Lake Worth, Fla., died Wednesday (Aug. 13, 2014) in the Elderwood Nursing Home, Hamburg, N.Y.
She was born Nov. 8, 1929, in Port Allegany, a daughter of Steve A. and Veva Hazen Romanio.
Miss Romanio was a 1947 graduate of Port Allegany High School and attended the University of Rochester, where she earned a degree in English with a minor in voice. She received her master's degree in education from St. Bonaventure University.
Miss Romanio was an orthoptic technician, employed by NY Eye and Ear Infirmary and at various firms in Florida. She also taught music at Otto-Eldred High School.
She is survived by cousins, David (Jane) H. Larcom of Hamburg, Michael Larcom of Pittsburgh, Howard Johnson of Largo, Fla., Randy Coons of Largo, and Carol Subject of Fort Collins, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Steven A Romanio.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 203 Arnold Ave., Port Allegany, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday with the Rev. James Campbell, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be in St Gabriel Cemetery, Port Allegany.
