Jon A. Dawley, 77, of Rew, passed away Monday (Oct. 1, 2012) at UPMC Hamot in Erie.
Born on March 24, 1935, in Bradford, he was a son of the late LeRoy M. and Helen M. Ekdahl Dawley. He was a 1954 graduate of Bradford High School.
Mr. Dawley was employed as a Foster Township road superintendent for many years and previously worked at Kendall and Airco Speer.
He was a lifelong member of the Rew Volunteer Fire Department and held several offices. He was a member and past president of the Eagles Club and former member of the Bradford Moose Lodge. He was a member and past president of the McKean County Elected Officials Association and served as Foster Township Supervisor for several years. He served as a flagman for the local New York and Pennsylvania racing circuit for many years.
Jon is survived by two daughters, Vonda K. (George) Reese of Limestone, N.Y., and Mindy R. (Randy) McElhattan of Kenersville, N.C.; three sons, Allen "Charlie" (Nina) Dawley of Bradford, and Steven J. Linville and Jeffrey R. Linville, both of Milford, Del.; four grandchildren; his former wife, Patricia Duvall Timblin of Milford, Del.; and one niece and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister Doris Elias.
Family will be receiving friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., 33 South Ave. Committal services will be held at McKean Memorial Park, Lafayette, at 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Fred Moore, associate pastor of the Bradford Area Parish, officiating.
