EMPORIUM - Margaret L. Housler, 82, of 949 Rich Valley Road, Emporium, died at Guy and Mary Felt Manor in Emporium on Thursday morning (Sept. 27, 2012) following a lengthy illness.
She was born Jan. 6, 1930, in Johnsonburg, a daughter of the late Bennie and Mary Nestlerode Wennin. On June 22, 1957, in Driftwood, she married Fredrick E. Housler, who survives.
Mrs. Housler graduated from Emporium High School in the Class of 1946. Years ago, she worked for the law office of attorney Tompkins and later at the law office of attorney Joe Malizia. She started a family and was a stay-at-home mother raising her family until returning to work at Pennsylvania Pressed Metals, where she worked more than 17 years. She retired in 1995.
She was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church and the VFW
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two daughters, Vickie (Chris) Kane of Syracuse, N.Y., and Anita (David) Speece of Oil City; a son, Steven (Lisa) Housler of Emporium; eight grandchildren, Julie, Lauren and Bryan Kane, Darienn and Cali Housler, and Hannah, Christian and Ella Speece; two sisters, Mary Wood of Sinnemahoning and Nancy Kowalski of Conyngham; and two brothers, Paul Wennin of Bentleyville and Richard Wennin of Penfield.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy; and a brother, Ben Wennin.
Visitation with video tribute will be held at the Barnett Funeral Home from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mark Catholic Church, 235 East Fourth St., Emporium, at 9 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Paul S. Siebert as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mark Catholic Cemetery, Emporium.
