Mary D. Looker, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, of 283 S. Kendall Ave., Bradford, passed away Saturday (Jan. 26, 2013) surrounded by her loving family at Bradford Regional Medical Center.
Born in Lewis Run, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Frances Curcio Bagnato. On Oct. 17, 1947, in St. Francis Church before Monsignor G. Carlton Ritchie, she married Francis W. Looker, who died on June 25, 1987.
Mary was a 1942 graduate of St. Bernard School and a 1945 graduate of the Bradford Hospital School of Nursing.
She worked as a registered nurse in the emergency room department and as a nursing supervisor at Bradford Hospital for more than 45 years. She also did private duty nursing for local area families. Prior to her retirement at the age of 80, she worked as a school nurse for the Bradford Area School System.
She was member of St. Bernard Church.
Surviving is one daughter, Susan Doyle of Bradford; one son, William Looker of Bradford; one sister, Ellen Bagnato of Bradford; two granddaughters, Mary Doyle of Bradford and Gina (Wesley) Horton of Cranberry Township; two great-grandchildren, Brooke Horton and Jocelyn Burgess; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four sisters, Josephine Dailey, Antoinette Bagnato, Carmella Champlin and Pauline Bagnato; and three brothers, James Bagnato, Rocco Bagnato and Michael Bagnato.
Family will be receiving friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., South Avenue, where a prayer service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Bernard Church with the Rev. Raymond Gramata, pastor, as celebrant. Committal services and burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.
