Mary Soules

ELDRED - Mary J. Aiken Fitzsimmons Soules, 97, passed away Saturday (April 20, 2013) at the Bradford Nursing Pavilion following a lengthy illness.
Born July 25, 1915, in Corsica, she was a daughter of David and Nora Shick Aiken. In 1932, she married Clarence R. "Bob" Fitzsimmons, who passed away in 1969. In 1976, she married John H. Soules, who passed away in 2001.
Mary was a 1932 graduate of Brookville High School. She lived in Klondike, Pa., for several years prior to moving to Eldred in 1944, where she spent the rest of her life.
Mrs. Soules was employed by Quality Cash in Eldred before working for Viko Furniture Co. of Eldred. She was employed by ALCAS Corp. in Olean, N.Y., for more than 30 years before retiring in 1977.
Mary was a member of the former Eldred Grange. She enjoyed bowling in her league for many years. She enjoyed taking fishing trips to Canada with her husband Bob and the Eldred locals. Mary was a terrific baker, known for her homemade bread, rolls and pies, and she enjoyed giving them away to people. She and her husband, John, had a campsite at Breezy Point Campground and enjoyed going there for many years.
Her Grandfather Shick fought in the Civil War, dying in the Battle of Gettysburg.
Surviving are two sons, Roger G. Fitzsimmons of The Villages, Fla., and Thomas D. (Sherry) Fitzsimmons of Brambleton, Va.; two stepdaughters, Becki Soules (Rob) Merry of Kane and Patti Soules (Terry) Bell of Eldred; six grandchildren, Terri (Wayne) King of Eldred, Kelli Luce of Eldred, Troy Fitzsimmons of Eldred, Shawn (Trisha) Fitzsimmons of Cyclone, Cameron Fitzsimmons in California and Jennifer Sisson of Bradford; eight great-grandchildren; and many great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her two husbands, she was preceded in death by one son, Michael J. Fitzsimmons, in 1986; two daughters, Donna Lee Luce in 2010 and infant Caroline Fitzsimmons; a son-in-law, William "Bill" Luce in 2011; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Fitzsimmons, in 2011; a grandson, Ricky J. Luce, in 1996; eight brothers, Harry, Clark, Roy, Sid, Everett, Elmer, Jim and Allen Aiken; and two sisters, Kate Clark and Alice Aaron-App.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Frame Funeral Home in Eldred, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Thomas E. Brown officiating. Burial will follow in St. Raphael Cemetery, Eldred.
