Mary A. Sweeley, 93, of Lewis Run, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Friday (May 17, 2013) at Bradford Regional Medical Center surrounded by family.
Born July 20, 1919, in Lewis Run, she was a daughter of Gaetano and Lucia Vecellio-Buoite Zamberlan. On Jan. 18, 1947, in Lewis Run, she married Clyde T. "Doc" Sweeley, who died on Oct. 30, 2011.
Mrs. Sweeley attended school in Lewis Run. She was a member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church and a lifelong member of the Lewis Run Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling, especially her trips to Alaska, Hawaii and Italy.
Surviving are four daughters, Karen (Ron) Ryder of Volant, Lucy (Donald) Patton of Gloucester, Va., Debbie (Tom) Lester of Penn Run and Tina Thompson of Clymer; one son, Bruce (Doris) Sweeley of Erie; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and three sisters.
Family will be receiving friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., 33 South Ave., where a prayer service will be held at 10:15 a.m. Monday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church with the Rev. Steven Collins, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park, Lafayette.
