JOHNSONBURG - Michael Paul Jundzilo, 30, of Culbertson, Mont., formerly of 224 Maplewood Lane, Johnsonburg, died Friday evening (Nov. 1, 2013) as the result of an automobile accident between Sidney and Culbertson, Mont.
He was born on May 28, 1983, in St. Marys, the son of Gary M. and Diane Northrop Jundzilo.
He had resided in Montana for the past year, but lived most of his life in Johnsonburg. He was a 2001 graduate of Johnsonburg High School. He was an Iraqi War vet, serving two tours in Iraq as a private with the Marine Corps with the 1st Battalion 8th Marines 2nd Marine Division for which he received the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Iraqi Campaign Medal with 1 Bronze Star
, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Rifle Qualification Badge-Expert 2d Award.
He was employed by Excel Industries in Montana.
He had been in the Cub Scouts, Pack 82. He loved hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his parents, Gary and Diane Jundzilo of Johnsonburg; his brothers, Mark Jundzilo of Johnsonburg and Paul Jundzilo in Iowa; a sister, Joanne Jundzilo of Johnsonburg; and several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Eugene and Patricia Northrop and Mary Jane Marrone Northrop; and paternal grandparents, William and Elizabeth Jundzilo.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, with the Rev. David J. Wilson, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be private.
Military honors will be accorded by the Johnsonburg-Wilcox Servicemen's Detail. Detail members are asked to assemble at the funeral home on Saturday at 9:15 a.m.
