Robert Rodgers Sr.

Robert C. Rodgers Sr., 87, of 45 Minard Run Road, passed away Thursday (Jan. 30, 2014) at Bradford Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.
Born July 19, 1926, in Chicora, he was a son of the late Ralph and Josephine Graham Rodgers. On Jan. 28, 1948, in Smethport, he married Ruth Elaine Nick Rodgers, who died Oct. 14, 1989.
Mr. Rodgers was a 1945 graduate of Eldred High School. On Dec. 20, 1945, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corp. He served during World War II and was honorably discharged as a sergeant on Jan. 27, 1947. After the service, he returned to the Bradford area and worked for Dresser Manufacturing for 39 years, retiring in 1989.
He was a member of Local Machinist Union #1699, John F. Kennedy Lodge AFL-CIO. He was a member of the Pine Acres Country Club, he was an avid hunter, golfer and reader. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He was a member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church in Lewis Run.
Surviving are five daughters, Linda  Kemick of Bradford, Elizabeth (Rick) Woodward of Mesa, Ariz., Teresa (Bob) Costello of Bradford, Jeannie (Ken) Park of Fort Mill, S.C., and Kathy (Leshia) Rodgers of Bradford; five sons, Tom Rodgers of Bradford, Daniel Rodgers of Bradford, David (Karen) Rodgers of Scranton, Michael Rodgers of Bradford and Mark (Carol) Rodgers of Houston, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Chris Rodgers of Rixford; two sisters, Patricia (Terry) Heeley of Erie and Shirley (John) Dicello of Timonium, Md.; 25 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth of 41 years; one son, Robert C. Rodgers Jr., who died June 27, 2010; two brothers, Walt Rodgers and Gerald Rodgers; and six sisters, infant sister Helen, Sally DuBois, Bernadette Brennan, Elizabeth Hess, Laverne Freer, and Margaret Johnson.
Family will be receiving friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., 33 South Ave., where a prayer service will be held at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church, Lewis Run, with the Rev. Steven Collins, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Smethport.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church.
