Sidney Stahlman Jr.

Sidney E. "Sid" Stahlman Jr., 84, of the Riley Road Apartments, passed away Wednesday (Oct. 17, 2012) at his residence.
Born April 9, 1928, in Bradford, he was a son of the late Sidney E. and Laura Childs Stahlman Sr. On Oct. 2, 1954, in Bradford, he married Helena L. Hartburg Stahlman, who died on April 16, 2001.
Mr. Stahlman was a 1946 graduate of Bradford High School. After high school he worked for Dresser Manufacturing. On Dec. 28, 1948, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, served as a senior radio interceptor operator during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on Sept. 17, 1952. He returned to Bradford and worked as a well log engineer at Birdwell, Piper, Sand Survey, Appalachian, Gerhart, and U.S. Energy.
He was a member and served on the board of the Penn Brad Oil Museum, and a member of the Fireside Pumpers. He was also a member of the VFW in Bradford, a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association in Bradford and Louisiana and a member of the Society of Petro Physicists and Well Log Analyst.
Surviving is a daughter, Sandy (Steve) Mills of Bradford and Lafayette La.; one son, Sidney E. "Sid" (Debbie) Stahlman III of DeQueen, Ark.; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several neices and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Family will be receiving friends from 7-9 p.m. on Oct. 26 in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., South Avenue, where funeral and committal services will be held with Military Honors to follow at the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Oct. 27, with the Rev. Larry Corner, pastor of the Evans Memorial United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park.
