Lawrence J. Simonds, 48, of 1248 South Ave., Bradford, opened his eyes to Glory and was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Friday (Oct. 5, 2012) at Bradford Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
Born May 30, 1964, in Bradford, he was a son of Lester L. and Caro A. Work Simonds, who devoted their entire time loving and caring for their son.
Larry was a 1985 graduate of George Blaisdell School. He received great joy listening to country music, the Golden Oldies, eating and always looked forward to his room being decorated by his parents for the holidays.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are four sisters, Judith (David) Crooks of Gifford, Betty (the Rev. Steven) Simmons of Salvo, N.C., Sharon (Ronald) Morris of Derrick City and Sonia (Mark) Havers of Eldred; one brother, Lester (Penny) Simonds of Bradford; many nieces; nephews; grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Donald; and one sister, Tonia, who both died in infancy.
Family will be receiving friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., East Main Street, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Larry Corner, pastor of the Evans Memorial United Methodist Church, and the Rev. Max Simms, pastor of the Hilltop Baptist Church, and the Rev. Steven Simmons, pastor of the Lifeboat Community Church and food pantry, co-officiating. Committal services and burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.
