Richard R. Smith, 62, of Bradford, formerly of Port Allegany, passed away on Friday (Aug. 22, 2014) at Bradford Regional Medical Center.

He was born on April 26, 1952, a son of the late Lois Chandler Smith.
Mr. Smith was a 1970 graduate of Port Allegany High School and a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, where he received his bachelor of science degree in engineering. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran who served during the Vietnam War.
He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and also enjoyed scuba diving in his spare time.
After his military service he was employed as an electrical engineer by Center Point Energy in Houston, Texas, for 30 years, retiring in 2012.
Mr. Smith is survived by two sisters, Dawn (George Harrier) Rupert of Bradford and Wendy (Ken) Sassman of Davie, Fla.; two brothers, Steve (Cindy Remington) Smith of Port Allegany and Douglas Smith of Roulette; stepmother, Carole Smith of Davie; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his mother, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Terry Smith.
At the family's request, there will be no visitation. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Grimes Cemetery, Port Allegany.
