CORYVILLE - Aileen J. Shick, 91, formerly of Moody Hollow Road, passed away Monday (April 28, 2014) at the Lakeview Senior Care and Nursing Facility in Smethport.

Born July 15, 1922, in New Kensington, she was a daughter of Elmer and Esther Mahan Jewart of Port Allegany, and graduated from Port Allegany High School in 1941. On Jan. 23, 1923, in Macon, Ga., she married Herbert Shick of Coryville, who died Nov. 17, 1993.
She was a member of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Port Allegany and later the Coryville Church of Faith. She loved her church and was a Sunday school teacher at both churches. She spent most of her life as a homemaker, but during World War II she worked at Pittsburgh Corning in Port Allegany. She loved walking her dogs and riding her bicycle. She also loved the time that she spent with her husband at their cottage at Cuba Lake, N.Y.
Mrs. Shick is survived by two children, Carla (Harold) Sabin of North Fort Myers, Fla., and a son, Tom (Lynn Bennett) Shick of Douglasville, Ga.; two grandsons, Dana (Hope) Shick and Bryan (Ashley) Shick; three great-grandchildren, Drew, Jaycee and Jacob; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald, Bob and Dale Jewart; and a sister, Jean Leet.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 17 at the Coryville Church of Faith.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Coryville Church of Faith, 1913 Moody Hollow Road, Eldred, PA 16731; or an animal shelter of the donor's choice.
