Alta A. Galentine, 90, formerly of Eldred, passed away Saturday (July 28, 2012) at Sena-Kean Manor in Smethport following a long illness.

Born July 2, 1922, in Red House, she was a daughter of Robert and Elsa Paul Haggerty. She married Lewis "Sonny" Galentine and they spent more than 40 years together.
She was a 1942 graduate of Eldred High School and was a lifetime resident of Eldred.
Alta spent her life as a homemaker. She loved her family, her children and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant the world to her.
She loved flowers and enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
Surviving are two daughters, Judy (William) App of Shinglehouse and Deborah (Larry) Greene of West Springfield; 11 grandchildren, James Galentine, Deanna App, Julie Metcalf, Lisa App, Susan Moore, Tracy Bentor, Michael Greene, Theresa Raffman, Ronald Galentine, Vic Galentine and Jennifer Galentine; 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Anna and Margaret.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Thomas and Ronald Galentine; a grandson, Justin Greene; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, June Baker.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Moody Hollow Cemetery, Coryville.
