SMETHPORT - Amandus Paul "Mandy" Weakland, 59, of Gifford, a very caring and loving husband, was suddenly called to be with the Lord, Saturday (March 5, 2016).

He was born Dec. 6, 1956, in Buffalo, N.Y., a son of Patrick Modestus and Malvina Agatha Westrick Weakland. On May 17, 2003, in Chest Springs, he married Tamra Lynn Harrison, who survives.
Mr. Weakland was a 1974 graduate of Hamburg Sr. High School and attended technical schools for diesel mechanics and commercial truck driving. He was employed as a heavy truck mechanic for Casella of Olean, N.Y.
Mr. Weakland enjoyed hunting and working on cars and trucks.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his parents, Patrick and Malvina Weakland of Mount Jewett; one daughter: Kate (Mark Ball) Weakland of Springville, N.Y.; one son: Patrick "P.J." Weakland of Kane; granddaughter, Kailyn Marie Weakland; four sisters: Karen L. (Del) Eulberg of Boerne, Texas, Lucinda M. Greene of Harrison Valley, Jeanette H. (Mark) Ernewein of Hamburg, N.Y., and Judith A. (Greg) Kogler of Blasdell, N.Y.; one brother: Patrick Wayne (Anna) Weakland of Petroleum, W.V.; and six nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service at 4 p.m. on Friday in the Hilltop Baptist Church, Gifford, with the Rev. Max Simms, pastor, officiating.
