JOHNSONBURG - Andrew W. Biel Sr., 87, of 424 Water St. Ext., Apt. 309, Johnsonburg, died Thursday morning (Oct. 10, 2013) at Elk Regional Health Center in St. Marys.

Born on March 3, 1926, in Rasselas, he was a son of John and Anna Barbara Biel Biel. On Nov. 13, 1950, he married Imogene McAninch, who died Sept. 3, 1985.
He resided in Johnsonburg for the past seven years, and is formerly of Wilcox. He attended Wilcox schools, and was a member of St. Anne and Holy Cross churches.
He was employed by Affiliated Industries of Kane for 14 years, retiring in 1989. He had also worked for Armstrong Forest Co. for 10 years and the Clarion Foundry for 10 years.
Surviving are a son, Andrew Carl (Marian) Biel Jr. of Wilcox; two grandchildren, Stephanie and James Biel; six great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Francis (Marie) Biel of Johnsonburg and Peter "Tom" (Shirley) Biel of Wilcox.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by Vincent, Walter, Leo and Michael Biel.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. David J. Wilson, pastor of Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Ridgway.
