Arlene M. Crumley, 95, of Asbury Methodist Village, Gaithersburg, Md., formerly of Bradford, passed away Sunday (April 7, 2013) at Wilson Health Care Center.
Born May 4, 1917, in Henrys Mills, Warren County, she was the daughter of Ralph and Myrtle Lowman Frick. Mrs. Crumley attended Cyclone School and Bradford High School where she graduated in 1935. On June 21, 1947, she married Richard G. Crumley, who died on Sept. 12, 1997.
She worked as a secretary for the General Accounting Office in Washington, D.C., during World War II, and in Bradford for the City of Bradford, First United Methodist Church, and Roly Door Sales. After moving to Gaithersburg, she worked for Potomac Electric Power Co., Marriott Corp., and Grace United Methodist Church. She was formerly a member of First United Methodist Church in Bradford and a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Gaithersburg. While living in Bradford, she was a member of the Current Events Club where she served as president and was president of the Women's Society for Christian Service of Bradford First Methodist Church.
Mrs. Crumley is survived by two daughters, Melissa A. (Paul) Nichols and Carol M. Crumley, both of Gaithersburg; one son, Gregg R. Crumley of Philadelphia; two grandchildren, Erin Nichols and Andrew Nichols; a great-grandson Sam Nichols; a sister, Geraldine Cookson of Bradford; a brother, Clifford (Gladys) Frick of Derrick City; and a sister-in-law, Erla Frick of Bradford.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ivan Frick.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., 33 South Ave., and again on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time funeral services will be held with the Rev. Tom Verner, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park.
