Axel Peterson

MONROE, Mich. - Axel C. "Bub" Peterson, 69, of Newport, Mich., died at 9:30 p.m. Friday (July 13, 2012) at Mercy Memorial Hospital, following an illness which began in January.
Born Oct. 15, 1942, in Olean, N.Y., he was the son of the late Arthur and Lorraine Anderson Peterson. He married Suzanne T. Emerick on Nov. 25, 1966, in Newport.
Pete was employed by ATA for eight years, and by Delta Airlines for 27 years as an aircraft mechanic, retiring in 2003. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War from June 1960 to June 1968.
Pete was a graduate of Bradford Area High School, Bradford, Pa., and was a member of VFW Post 3943 Newport and American Legion Post 108, Bradford.
He enjoyed working on his yard and on cars, but what he enjoyed most was his Saturday morning breakfast with his little darling.
Surviving are his wife, Suzanne; three daughters, Deborah A. Peterson of Ohio and Christine M. (Ryan) Knapp and Karen L. Peterson, both of Monroe; three grandchildren, Melissa A Standifer, Allison M. Standifer and Claire K. Knapp; great-grandson, Gabriel D. Bunch; sisters, Sandra (Edward) Chandler of Bradford and Marilyn (Charles) Lockwood of Zelienople, Pa.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Peterson; a sister, Barbara Peterson; and a grandson, Patrick J. Standifer.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 11 at the Rupp Funeral Home, where memorial services will immediately follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Lawrence Detruf, pastor of the First Church of God, officiating.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Rupp Funeral Home, Monroe.
