FAIRBORN, Ohio - Barbara W. Potts, 88, of Indianapolis, Ind., formerly of Fairborn, Ohio, passed away Sunday (Feb. 19, 2012).
She was born Aug. 17, 1923, in Elk County, Pa., the daughter of the late Chester Burnell and Mabel Rey Schade Wanner.
Barbara served her country in the U.S. Coast Guard and was employed as a secretary for many years.
She was a longtime member of the Rona Community Church and was a loving mother, grandmother and friend who made a profound impact on many lives.
She is survived by two sons, Bruce (Terri) Potts of Indianapolis and Mark (Amber) Potts of Kettering; five grandchildren, Kevin Potts, Monica (Eddie) Huggler, Rylee Potts, Javan Potts and Aubrielle Potts; two great-grandchildren, Beth-Anne and Kellie Huggler; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George, in 2006; three brothers, Burnell, Wallace and Sylvester Wanner; and three sisters, Catherine Olsen, Ann Romick and Marie McCamey.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Road, Fairborn, where a funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Dave Ringhiser, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Byron Cemetery.
