LEOLA - Bertha Landis Hurst, 92, died peacefully of natural causes in her Landis Homes cottage in Lancaster County on Sunday (Oct. 7, 2012).

Known as "Bert" in her younger years, she was married to Lester Martin Hurst for almost 65 years until he passed away seven years ago.
Bertha is survived by five children, Evelyn Stisher and Daryl (Karen Weik) Hurst, both of New Holland, Kenneth (Janice Martin) Hurst of Leola, Elaine (Robert) Muschlitz of Millersville and Dianne (David) Bretz of Lexington, S.C.; 12 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, who died at birth in 1956; and a son-in-law, George Stisher.
Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Bethany West Chapel, Landis Homes, or from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Forest Hills Mennonite Church, 100 Quarry Road, Leola, where a celebration of Bertha's life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, to be followed by a burial ceremony at the Eby Cemetery, Leola.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials are welcomed to Landis Homes Benevolence Fund, 1001 East Oregon Road, Lititz, PA 17543.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Furman Home for Funerals, Leola.
