Bessie F. Henry, 74, of Coleville, died Saturday (Aug. 4, 2012) at The Pavilion at BRMC in Bradford.
She was born Jan. 26, 1938, in DuBois, a daughter of Joseph Houston and Bertha M. Pierce Parris. On July 24, 1976, in Coleville, she married William C. "Bill" Henry, who died June 16, 2007.
Mrs. Henry was employed by the Ethan Allen Co. of Eldred as a seamstress. She then had her own upholstery business she operated from her home in Coleville for many years.
She was a home-body, and enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and her dog, "Fluffy."
She is survived by a nephew, whom she raised as a son, Edward (Darlene) Parris Jr. of Bradford; two stepdaughters, Judy of Ridgway and Lois of Mount Jewett; two "grandsons," Joshua and Jared Parris of Bradford; one stepgrandson; four stepgranddaughters; several stepgreat-grandchildren; three brothers, Melvin Parris of Bradford, Earl Parris of Indiana and Edward Parris Sr. of Olean, N.Y.; one sister, Donna Brewer of Port Allegany; and many nieces; nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers; and one sister.
Private family services will be held on Tuesday at the Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, with the Rev. Max Simms, pastor of the Hilltop Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Smethport.
