CUBA, N.Y. - Betty J. Lewis, 65, of 14 Lees Court, passed away Sunday (Jan. 19, 2014) in Olean General Hospital following a lengthy illness.

She was born Jan. 21, 1948, in Lackawanna, a daughter of Harold and Betty Jane Ludlow Combs. On July 7, 1984, in Rushford, she married Stanley Lewis, who preceded her in death in 1994.
Mrs. Lewis had worked for Roberson Appliances in Castile, the Cattaraugus County Nursing Home in Machias, Mosher's Safe Co. in Franklinville and the Carrot Factory, also of Franklinville.
She was a past member of the Eldred (Pa.) Township Fire Department Auxiliary.
Mrs. Lewis is survived by three sons, James (Monica Morris) Howard of Cuba, Tracey (Michele Walters) Howard of Bradford, Pa., and Rodney Lewis of Eldred; a brother, Tony (Pam) France of Friendship; and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are close friends Gordon and Jason Howell, Candy and Kevin McCracken and Scott and Caleb Walters.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd France and Lyle "Sonny" France; and one sister, Martha.
Friends will be received at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home and Memorial Service Inc. at 9 Bull St. in Cuba on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time a memorial service will be held with the Rev. Larry Poelma, pastor of the Cuba First Baptist Church, officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Cuba Ambulance Fund.
