WILCOX - Betty Walters, 89, of 78 Horner Road, Wilcox, passed away Sunday afternoon (April 20, 2014) at her residence after a lengthy illness.
Born Oct. 22, 1924, in Wilcox, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Ida Magnuson Whippo. On July 3, 1942, in Smethport, she married Clyde T. Walters Sr., who survives.
She was a lifelong resident of Wilcox and attended Wilcox High School.
Mrs. Walters was a member of the Wilcox Presbyterian Church, an excellent cook and baker, and she was most comfortable being a homemaker.
She worked at Stackpole Carbon Co. in St. Marys for five years.
In addition to her husband at home, she is survived by a son, Clyde T. (Mary Jo) Walters Jr. of St. Marys; a daughter, Donna L. Cornelius of Kane; five grandchildren, Scott Walters, Wendy Walters, Rick Francen, Mark Francen and Jeff Francen; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Leslie Walters; four brothers, Paul, Levi, Harry and Carl Whippo; and three sisters, Violet Von Arx, Martha Morgan and Ruth Olsen.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, Johnsonburg, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Mark Cantaral, pastor of the Wilcox Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be in Wilcox Cemetery.
