MUNCY - Billy Eugene Guthrie, 76, of Muncy, died Tuesday (July 3, 2012) at Washington Hospital Center, Washington, D.C.

Born Oct. 23, 1935, in Wayne Township, he was a son of the late Robert and Margaret Gump Guthrie. He and his wife, the former Theresa M. Jordan, would have celebrated 54 years of marriage on Nov. 1, 2012.

Billy served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post 268, Muncy. He retired in 1997 from Axeman-Anderson, South Williamsport, after having worked there for over 10 years.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Brenda S. (Kenneth) Shafer of Williamsport and Jodi K. (Craig) Everett of Lees Summit, Mo.; three brothers, Robert (Marge) Guthrie of Bradford, Perry Guthrie in New York and Glen (Mary) Guthrie of Custer City; and two sisters, Nancy (Lee) Moore in Virginia and Kae Guthrie in Maryland.

Friends may call Monday at the Moreland Baptist Church, 118 Moreland Baptist Road, Muncy, from 10:30 to 11 a.m., at which time a memorial service will be held with the Rev. Robert Ingraham officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with graveside military honors accorded by combined veterans organizations.
