KANE - Brenda L. Emer, 44, of 142 New Jersey Ave. (P.O. Box 212) in James City, died Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 1, 2013) at UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh after a series of courageous battles with cancer over 16 years.

Born Nov. 15, 1968, in Kane, she was the daughter of Wallace R. and Jo Ann Swanson Dyne. On Aug. 3, 1991, in Kane, she married Cy E. Emer, who survives.
Brenda was employed by the Kane Area School District and Jim Airgood Busing. She was an active member of the Tabor Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kane, where served in the Altar Guild and played in the handbell choir.
She was also very active in the
in Kane, in which she was a member of the West Side Walkers.
Surviving, in addition to her husband of Jane Lew, W.Va., are her father, Wallace "Wally" Dyne of Kane; a son, John Emer and a daughter, Allison Emer, both at home; a sister, Deb (Tom) Cunningham of James City; and two brothers, Steve (Kerri) and Bob Dyne, both of Kane. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home Inc. in Kane, and may attend a funeral service at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Kane Area High School auditorium with the Revs. Bill Waterman, pastor of Tabor Lutheran Church, and W. Craig Smith, pastor of the Mount Jewett-Hazel Hurst United Methodist Churches, co-officiating. Interment will be in Lebanon Cemetery in Kanesholm at a later date.
