MOUNT JEWETT - Carmela Ann "Melly" Napolitan, 83, of Bradford, passed away Tuesday (June 11, 2013) at The Pavilion at BRMC in Bradford.

Born May 25, 1930, in Hazel Hurst, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Antoinette Santaniello Napolitan.
Ms. Napolitan was a graduate of Mansfield University and began her teaching career in Savona, N.Y., in 1952. Later, she served as an elementary teacher for 42 years in the Bradford Area School District, retiring in 1995.
Carmela was a member of the Retired Teachers' Association and St. Joseph's Rosary Society.
Her legacy is the thousands of students, family and friends for whom she so deeply cared. She will be fondly remembered for her warm smile and generous heart.
Surviving are two sisters, Rose Cronk of Portsmouth, N.H., and Margaret (Joseph) Segulin of Mount Jewett; a brother, Michael (June) Napolitan of Clarendon; three nieces, Rosemarie House, Carole Jean Frawley and Michele Napolitan; and five nephews, John Cronk, Stephen Ostroski, Michael Ostroski, Michael Napolitan and Mark Napolitan.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were a sister, Theresa Ostroski; and a niece, Tina Cronk.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Cummings Funeral Home Inc., 10 E. Main St., Mount Jewett. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Division Street, Mount Jewett, with the Rev. Vincent Cieslewicz, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Johnsonburg.
