COUDERSPORT - Carolyn J. Owens, 85, of Coudersport, died Monday (July 16, 2012) at Sweden Valley Manor in Coudersport.

Born on April 10, 1927, in Elkland, she was the daughter of Emory E. and Lillian E. Blow Pepper. On July 5, 1947, in Coudersport, she married William F. Owens, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Owens was a graduate of Coudersport High School. She worked for her brother Milford at Pepper's Market starting in 1968 and continued on when the store became Costa's Market, retiring in 1992.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Coudersport. Her hobbies and interests included fishing, knitting, gardening and she was an avid walker and reader. She donated her knitting to newborns through the hospital and the Christmas House.
Surviving are two sons, William F. (Terri Bean) Owens Jr. of Port Allegany and Robert J. (Nancy Ahl) Owens of State College; three grandchildren, Barbara Gardner of Johnstown, Hilarie Owens of Osceola Mills and Brady Owens of Port Allegany; one great-grandson, Jack Sulewski of Osceola Mills; her brothers, Alfred L. (Rosalyn) Pepper and Emory E. (Adeline) Pepper Jr.; and sisters, Donna C. (Russell) Mahon and Jean M. (Ivan) Crosby.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two daughters, Cathy M. Owens and Linda C. Owens; and three brothers, Milford C. Pepper, Robert L. Pepper and Monte D. Pepper.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Fickinger Funeral Home, 210 N. East Street, Coudersport, with the Rev. Evon Lloyd officiating. Burial will be in Eulalia Cemetery.
