ULYSSES - Charles J. Gerner, 84, of Coudersport, died Wednesday (Nov. 16, 2016) in Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport.
Born Sept. 5, 1932, in Boyers, he was the son of Ernest and Margaret Hovis Gerner. On Nov. 24, 1951, in Woodstock, Va., he married the former Ruth Rodgers, who survives.
A graduate of Bruin High School, he was employed by West Penn Power Co. for 17 years. He owned and operated Gerner Electric and Coudersport Precast for many years.
Surviving besides his wife, Ruth, are six children, Terance (Anne) Gerner, Paul (Nancy) Gerner, Kathleen (Mark) Jackson, Richard (Diane) Gerner, Steven (Nila) Gerner, and George (Debbie) Gerner; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Leroy Gerner of Butler; two sisters, Dolores Burlett of Fair Oaks and Loretta (Russell) Slater of Butler; nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Park United Methodist Church, Coudersport, on Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m., at which time a memorial service will be held with the Rev. Scott Ogden officiating.
