ERIE - Charlotte E. Hopkins Swackhamer, 87, of Erie, passed away Wednesday (Jan. 28, 2015) at UPMC Hamot following a brief illness.

She was born in Bradford on June 14, 1927, a daughter of the late Paul L. and Margaret A. Schoening Hopkins.
Charlotte attended Bradford High School and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She volunteered with the Youth Group at Corry E.U.B. Church and enjoyed crocheting, floral gardening and crafts. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include two sons, Gary (Katie) Swackhamer of West Chester and Tim (Joni) Swackhamer of Edinboro; one daughter, Julie (Denny) Culver of Corry; one brother, William (Dot) Hopkins of Biddeford, Maine; two sisters-in-law, Jane Rossi of Bradford and Rita (George) Gates of Williamson, N.Y.; one brother-in-law, Bob Means of Largo, Fla.; one daughter-in-law, Linda Swackhamer of Fort Mill, S.C.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Alfred H. Swackhamer; one son, Ronald Swackhamer; and two sisters, Jean Jarrett and Helen Oleksa.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Road, Erie, on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. and are invited to services there at 10 a.m. Monday. Burial will be private in Pine Grove Cemetery in Corry.
