MOUNT JEWETT - Christopher James McCormack, 40, of East End Avenue, Regent Square, Pittsburgh, and formerly of Mount Jewett, passed away Thursday (Dec. 11, 2014) at Allegheny General Hospital Transplant Unit, Pittsburgh.

Born April 29, 1974, in Kane, he was a son of Jim and Kittie Johnston McCormack. On July 27, 2002, in Key West, Fla., he married Miriam Kleman McCormack, who survives.
Chris attended Mount Jewett Elementary School and graduated from Kane Area High School with honors in 1992. He was a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University in 1996 and received his Master's Degree in Education from Chatham College in 1998.
He began teaching at St. Edmunds Academy in Pittsburgh, where he ascended to Head of Upper School. He continued working in education and most recently served as a manager of the tech department at the Pine Richland School District. He also loved his dogs, Morgan, Amber and Bonnie.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of Pittsburgh and his parents of Mount Jewett, are a brother, Jay (Marcie Srun) McCormack; and five nieces whom he adored, Wren, Jayne, Sunny, Claire and Kacey, all of Terra Haute, Ind.
Friends may attend a memorial service at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Mount Jewett United Methodist Church with the Rev. W. Craig Smith, pastor, officiating. Private interment will be held at Bridgeview Cemetery prior to the memorial service.
