MOUNT JEWETT - Clarence D. Clawson, 79, formerly of Mount Jewett, passed away Tuesday (Jan. 1, 2013) at Sena-Kean Manor in Smethport.
Born May 21, 1933, at Lantz Corners, he was a son of Burt and Hazel Swanson Clawson. On Jan. 26, 1953, in Johnsonburg, he married Luella May Disque, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Clawson was on the Peer Project Board at Sena-Kean Manor and worked for nineteen years as a projectionist at the Kane Family Drive-In. He also was employed at Dresser Manufacturing Co. for 39 years and worked as a handyman and plumber for several years.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Orak Grotto and the Scottish Rite. He belonged to the Fraternal Order of Police and was a lifetime member of the Mount Jewett Volunteer Fire Department and the National Rifle Association (NRA). He also was a past member of Mount Jewett American Legion Post 574.
He is survived by one son, Robert Dwayne Clawson of Bradford.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Luella May Clawson; and his parents.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Cummings Funeral Home Inc. in Mount Jewett, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. W. Craig Smith, pastor of the Mount Jewtt/Hazel Hurst United Methodist Churches, officiating. Burial will be at Lebanon Lutheran Cemetery.
