Connie L. Newcome, 76, formerly of Bolivar Drive, passed away Wednesday (Oct. 12, 2016) at the Bradford Ecumenical Home.
Born Jan. 19, 1940, in Smethport, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Evelyn Anderson Larson. She was the widow of Arthur H. Newcome, who died on April 30, 2011.
Mrs. Newcome was a graduate of Smethport High School and of Gettysburg College with a degree in education. She attended the University of Pittsburgh and Penn State University to complete her master's degree. She taught in Cyclone Elementary School, then later at Smethport Elementary School for more than 30 years.
Connie was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, PSEA and enjoyed going to the Bradford Senior Center, reading, writing and playing the piano.
Surviving is a daughter, Dr. Megan N. (Shane) Brown of Lakewood, N.Y.; a son, Dirk (Rachel) Wooster of Douglasville, Ga.; three stepdaughters, Mikey Jo (Jack) Titus of Marcellus, N.Y., Jackie (Robert) Briggs of Estes, Colo., and Susan (Kevin) Hartman of Gifford; one stepson, Gary Newcome of Savannah, Ga.; two grandchildren, Colton Wooster and Caroline Brown; eight stepgrandchildren; and 13 stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one brother, Richard Larson.
Family will be receiving friends from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., 372 East Main St., where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday with her son, the Rev. Dirk Wooster, officiating. Committal service and burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Smethport.
