PANAMA CITY, Fla. - Deno Florio Del Monego, age 84 of Panama City, passed away Wednesday (June 17, 2015) at his home.
Deno was born Nov. 27, 1930, in Bradford, Pa., to Alessandro and Luigia Macchietto Del Monego and moved to Panama City in 1971 coming from San Antonio, Texas.
Deno was a retired United States Air Force Senior Master Sergeant who served in the Vietnam War. He was also retired from the United States Postal Service and was a faithful member of St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church in Panama City.
Deno enjoyed spending time playing tennis, traveling, working in his garden, time at the casino and cook outs, but mostly he enjoyed his family.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Dolores Zamora Del Monego; his daughters, Dona Maly of Soldotna, Alaska, Deborah Del Monego of Panama City and LaNell (Michael) Jones of Cary, N.C.; his sons, Joseph (Claire) Del Monego of Panama City Beach and Robert (JuliAnne) Del Monego of Tallahassee, Fla.; his brother, Albert (Shirley) Del Monego of Bradford; his sisters, Victoria Taylor of Lafayette, Pa. and Lea Miller of Lewis Run, Pa.; his grandchildren, Michael (Angela Vallier) Maly of Chesapeake, Va., Eleanore Paramore of Lynn Haven, Stefanie (Jeffrey Runion) Del Monego of Fort Rucker, Ala.; Anthony, Daniel, Nikolas, Marina and Stephen Del Monego all of Tallahassee, Fla., Jason (Alida) Jones of Cary, N.C. and Jason (Carla) Flores of Alamogordo, N.M. and also his 15 great-grandchildren.
Deno is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Mario and John Del Monego; sister, Joan Del Monego; son, Gregory Flores; son-in-law, Robert Maly and his best friend, Donald B. Thompson.
Friends will be received Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary starting at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery with a reception following at the St. John Parish Hall.
