Doris M. Srock, 90, formerly of Yarnall Street, then Central Towers, Kane, died early Tuesday morning (Feb. 25, 2014) at The Lutheran Home at Kane, where she resided the past few months.
Born April 22, 1923, in Houtzdale, she was the daughter of Gordon and Mary Mays Haines. On Sept. 21, 1943, in Houtzdale, she married Richard C. Srock, who died in 1997.
Mrs. Srock had worked in retail, mostly for the former Broadbent-Stiteler in Kane, for many years.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Kane, where she served as a deacon, taught Sunday School and belonged to the Women's Circle. She also was a member and Worthy Matron multiple times of the Order of the Eastern Star in Kane. Doris volunteered at The Lutheran Home at Kane for more than 25 years; the R.S.V.P., Meals on Wheels, Kane Food Pantry and enjoyed attending the Kane Senior Center. Her mantra was "Love God Serve Mankind."
Surviving are two daughters, Sandrea Youkers of Oil City and Bonita (John) Kibbie of Bradford; and a son, Tim Srock of Oil City. Six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren also survive.
Preceding her in death, besides her husband and parents, are a son, Clifford Srock; two great-grandchildren in infancy; and two brothers, Alfred and Luther Haines.
Friends may call at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home in Kane on Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at which time a service will be held there with the Rev. Rebecca Taylor, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Kane.
