KANE - Dorothy M. Smith, 98, of 857 8th St., West Pittsburgh, and formerly of 608 Park Ave., Kane, passed away Sunday (Nov. 24, 2013) at her residence.

Born April 26, 1915, in Kane, she was a daughter of the late Clyde and Nellie Niver Burdick. On May 19, 1931, in Mayville, N.Y., she married George Smith, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Smith had lived in the New Castle area for several years. Prior to that, she lived in Kane and had been employed by Stackpole for many years.
She is survived by many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death, besides her husband and parents, were three sons, Larry Smith, Donald Smith and Richard Smith; and a daughter, Loretta Chieze.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Cummings Funeral Home Inc., where funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Chad Troup, pastor of the First Church of God, officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
