COUDERSPORT - E. Ruth Gerhart, 85, of Coudersport, passed away Monday (Oct. 14, 2013) at her residence surrounded by her family.
Ruth was born Jan. 18, 1928, in Perkasie, the daughter of John Calvin and Pearl Elizabeth Alden Buehrle. She and her husband, Paul A. Gerhart, were married Jan. 7, 1947 in Maryland. Paul passed away on April 26, 2007.
Ruth and her husband, Paul, owned and operated Paul's Motel in Ladona for more than 40 years. She was a member of the Coudersport Area Chamber of Commerce and was a social member of Shinglehouse American Legion Post #530. Ruth enjoyed bingo, playing cards, seek a word puzzles and loved spending time with her family.
Ruth's survivors include six sons, Russell D. (Barbara) Hess of East Greenville, Robert (Peggy) Gerhart, Albert "Butch" Gerhart (Cathy Flook) of Coudersport, Michael (Margaret) Gerhart of Shinglehouse, Jeffery (Judy) Gerhart of Coopersburg and James (Laura) Gerhart of Coudersport; six daughters, Nancy Trumbauer of Fort Myers, Fla., Alice (Michael) Sames of Hereford, Pamela (Ronald) Andrus of Gaines, Melody (Dennis) Moses of Port Allegany, Deborah (Kevin) Cline of Coudersport and Christine (Robert) Rees of Roulette; 37 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, six sisters, Grace Schneider of Souderton, Clara (Arthur) Conti of Pompano Beach, Fla., Flossie (John) Bright of Quakertown, Helen Hrycho of East Greenville, Mary Roeder of Sellersville and Sarah Kratz of Hellerstown.
Ruth was preceded by six brothers, Walter, Willard, Jimmy, Donald, John and George Buehrle; one son-in-law, Jesse Trumbauer; and two-great-grandchildren, A.J. and Carson.
Friends and relatives will be received at the Fickinger Funeral Home "A Life Celebration Home" at 210 North East St., Coudersport, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Ruth's funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Park United Methodist Church, 15 E. 3rd St., Coudersport, with the Rev. Thomas Shatto officiating. Burial will be in Sweden Hill Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to Potter County Hospice or American Cancer Society, Potter Unit, both located at 1001 E 2nd St., Coudersport, PA 16915.
