KANE - Edith E. Mosier, 97, of 525 Flickerwood Road, Kane, passed away Sunday (May 27, 2012) at the Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born March 10, 1915, in Morrison, she was a daughter of John and Natalina Badiali Avenali. On June 24, 1935, in Allegany, N.Y., she married Jacob "Jake" Mosier who preceded her in death after 58 years of marriage.
Mrs. Mosier graduated as valedictorian from the Kinzua High School in 1931 at the age of 16. As a full-time homemaker, she was a devoted wife, a dedicated mother, an excellent cook and an avid gardener. She had previously worked for a time at Sylvania in Emporium.
She was a member of the St. Callistus Catholic Church. She volunteered for Meals-on-Wheels and was always willing to give a helping hand. She will be missed by her friends and family.
Surviving are two sons, John (Patricia) Mosier and Robert (Paula) Mosier, both of Kane; a daughter, Mary Ann Lamb of Erie; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents and husband, by a daughter, Sister Denise Mosier; four sisters, Teresa Giovagnoli, Viola Lorenzo, Anna Winhoven and Elizabeth Colle; and a brother, Peter Avenali.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Cummings Funeral Home Inc. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the St. Callistus Church with the Rev. Philip Pinczewski, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at the St. Callistus Cemetery.
