Edward R. English Sr., 76, of Derrick City, passed away on Wednesday (May 30, 2012) at UPMC Hamot, Erie.

He was born on June 12, 1935 in Derrick City, a son of the late Lloyd and Emma Boyer English. On Feb. 1, 1958, in the former Methodist Church in Derrick City, he married Jean B. Beckwith, who survives.
He attended the Bradford Area High School. He was a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard for six years where he was a guardsman for Company K. For over 40 years he worked for the former Airco Speer and later at Zippo Manufacturing Co., until his retirement in 1995.
He was a member of the First Free Methodist Church in Bradford.
He loved to cook; especially breakfast for his family.
In addition to his wife of 54 years, Jean B. English of Derrick City, he is also survived by one son, Edward R. English Jr. of Derrick City; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd English II and Lawrence English; and one sister, Julia Bailey.
At the family's request there will be no viewing or funeral services.
