KANE - Marjorie "Marge" Zampogna, 90, of 314 Kearney St., passed away Thursday (Oct. 3, 2013) at her residence.
The Guest Book is expired.
Born Feb. 2, 1923 (Ground Hog Day), in Johnsonburg, she was the daughter of the late John Edward Bressler and Sarah Elizabeth Barner. On April 12, 1945, she married Fritz Zampogna, who passed away in 2012.
She was a loving wife and mother. She aspired to be a nurse at a young age, but did not become one as she had a slight heart murmur that prevented her enrollment at that time. As a lefty, she was made to write with her right hand in grade school. She was a homemaker and bookkeeper for her self-employed carpenter husband. She loved being around her family and friends. She kept up with current events in the news up to her last days. Earlier in life she had also been employed at Stackpole in Johnsonburg and Temple Pharmacy in Kane.
She was also a member of St. Callistus Catholic Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara J. McDermott and Debra A. (Barry "Mac") McQuillen of Kane; a son, James L. (Maryclaire) Zampogna of Fulton, N.Y.; six grandchildren, James, Patrick, Joshua, Edward, Renee and Jill; seven great-grandchildren, Katelynn, Madeline, Dominic, Geena, Trevor, Olivia and Maddison: closest nephews and nieces, David (Cathy) Buckland, Patricia Lawrence (Gene) and Harry (Sharon) Bressler.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Bressler; and three sisters, Maxine Buckland, Helen Holmes and Judy Bressler.
Friends will be received in the gathering space at St. Callistus Catholic Church on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m., where a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Philip Pinczewski as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Callistus Cemetery.
