Elmer Padasak
FORT EDWARD, N.Y. - Elmer Eugene Padasak, 88, a resident of The Oak's at Fort Hudson, passed away peacefully on Tuesday (July 3, 2018) at Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on May 12, 1930, in Wilcox, Pa.; he was the son of the late Peter and Antonia Tonka Feikles Padasak.
Mr. Padasak was retired from the B & O Railroad as a laborer. He was a decorated Korean War Veteran and was the recipient of the Presidential Unit Citation, Purple Heart, Oak Leaf Cluster, Occupation Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Korean Service Medal, Five Bronze Stars and United Nations Service Medal. He was a member of the American Legion Post 0467 in Wilcox for 65 years and a member of Our Lady of the Annunciation Church, Queensbury.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by two sisters, Anna Beckwith and Margaret Dill; nine brothers, infants John, Michael and Steven, as well as Andrew, Peter, Francis, Joseph, Edward and Rodger Padasak.
Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Louise Bell Padasak, who he married on Dec. 31, 1955; children, Robert E. (Lynn) Padasak of Indiana, Pa., Steven A. (Shirley) Padasak of Glens Falls, Lois J. (Jim) Melleon of Queensbury, Wesley S. (Gina) Padasak of New York City; grandchildren, Garrett R. Padasak, Chloe L. Padasak, Preston P. (Marissa) Padasak, Harrison D. Padasak, Ashleigh E. (Andrew) Iuliucci, S. Blake Padasak, Baileigh E. Padasak, Austin J. (Kristen) Melleon, Gracie J. Melleon and Isabella M. Padasak; great-grandchildren, Presley L. Padasak and Emma R. Iuliucci; one brother, Lawrence P. Padasak of Jamestown; one twin sister, Eleanor M. Lozinski of Greenville, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Burial with full military honors will be at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, N.Y.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to C.R. Wood Cancer Center, 102 Park Street, Glens Falls, NY 12801, in memory of Elmer.
